Students will:
· Recognize and use art elements and principles of design, such as line, shape, texture, symmetry, balance and repetition.
· Begin to recognize and use more complex elements and principles of design, such as space, emphasis, variety and focal point.
· Develop the ability to discuss, reflect and analyze their artwork and the artwork of others, including work throughout history.
· Develop the skills to express personal ideas and experiences in their artwork.

Physical Education
Teacher: Mr. Ikeda
These skills, along with working cooperatively and effectively within a group setting, are accomplished through the use of team sports. The physical activities are the vehicle through which our students can practice skills (introduced or reviewed) in working with others. No previous experience is necessary to engage in the various team sport activities. Every student can successfully engage in the activities at their own level.
Students will:
· Demonstrate competence in selected motor skills.
· Demonstrate competence in selected object control skill.
· Be assessed in physical fitness (cardio, flexibility, agility and muscular strength). Tests used include mile run, shuttle run, sit and reach, curl-up, push-ups.
· Exhibit appropriate personal, social and attitudinal character traits (respect for others, responsibility, self-control and constructive competition)

Hawaiian Studies
Teacher: Makua Leilani
We are fortunate to have Makua Lei return as our Hawaiiana Kumu. Students will participate in Hawaiian studies 30 minutes every week. This year students will focus on the Hawaiian language, mele, oli, hula, crafts and celebrating the world Wa'a exploration.
Music
Teacher: Ms. Luckett
This year the PTA has generously funded a music teacher for Aikahi Elementary School. Mrs. Luckett will teach weekly 30-minute classes.
